Defenders of the Dream:
On behalf of the 1,500 clergy and religious leaders of Gamaliel grassroots organizations in eighteen states, we applaud your courage, passion, and determination to defend the Dream as you march from Daytona to Sanford. In this holy season of Easter and Passover, we celebrate the actions of God to liberate humanity from every expression of servitude, oppression, and death. Your actions are an expression of that liberation in this generation.
The blood of Trayvon Martin cries out to heaven. God hears. You hear. We are heartened and challenged by your response.
As we commemorate the anniversary of the slaying of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we are mindful of the ongoing efforts to kill the Dream of Dr. King and of those countless others who sacrificed with him in the struggle for freedom in this nation. You pledge by your words and your actions to defend that Dream, especially for brown and black young people who have every right to pursue their dreams without fear of intimidation, racial assault, or mortal threat. You are an inspiration to us.
May God bless you, protect you, and guide you.
